and came to Huntsville in 2010 to pursue a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He first became involved in swing dancing during his senior year in Buffalo, from the advice from a friend who had had some experience first in swing and salsa. His interest in Latin dancing was piqued when he heard about the UAH salsa club. He has been a part of the regional Latin dancing scene ever since, and has been part of performance teams as well. Los Gordos Production
“The Three Legs of a Tripod”

Los Gordos from the Tennessee Valley! Roberto Dextre Jr. , Donald Dugal (Double D) and Erick Ordonez  partnered up back in 2013 to bring you Rocket City Latin Festival 2014.  Erick and Donald have been involved in the dance scene in Huntsville since 2003. Erick was a Radio DJ for the #1 Top 40 Station in the Huntsville area 104.3 WZYP. When he had the opportunity he would play awesome genres of music ranging from European House, Drum and Bass, Salsa, Reggaeton, Bachata, Merengue, Hip Hop, Rock, 80s, 90s, and everything else he could get his hands on. He was DJing Monthly Latin Events in the Huntsville area at differnt venues including Club 721 and Vynil. Donald has been DJing since 2005 which includes skating rings, weddings, clubs, house parties, salsa parties, and anything that has to do with sound. He is the owner of the dance studio Dance Rocket City. Both Donald and Erick have been building the Latin Dance community by hosting parties all across the valley. The most recent success was Full Moon Salsa. Where Full Moon Salsa brought in over 300 people to the venue mixing the latin community with the dancing community. Roberto is the Director of the Salsa Program at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He took over after Erick retired in June 2014. Together Roberto and Erick built a salsa program that promoted diversity between the latin community and the dance community. Something that has never been achieved in the Tennessee Valley. The program currently run at the University carries the largest salsa class in the state of Alabama with an average 40 members in class every week. They have pushed the salsa scene to grow, not by just learning basic 123 and 567. But building foundations of fundamentals and more importantly having fun dancing.

Together Los Gordos have generated some hot choreography, and dancers that have shined on the dance stages of Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Houston, Memphis, Nashville, and smaller cities in between. They lead the Tenneessee Valley in bringing Salsa and Bachata to the main stream of the south.
